Shoebill stork Uganda Day Mabamba Swamp Birding tour or shoebill stork birding safari spots you to the rare shoebills a Mabamba swamp / wetland. The Swamp / wetland is situated just outside of Kampala city about 1 hour a minutes of drive time with access on Masaka or Entebbe road. Mabamba swamp / wetland is an arm of lake Victoria connecting the main fishing village of Busi Island. The sw lies near a relatively small village of Kasanje town with a few hills surrounding the entire swamp with fishing a main activity catching mostly Tilapia and lungfish in the small streams of the mainly papyrus grass covered swamp

Most of the visitors to the Mabamba papyrus wetland or swamp will board the wooden boats in search of main Rare Shoebill Stork which usually hides in the water weed to feed on the fish from the moving water in the sw The Shoebill stays in the papyrus but will also rarely stay on
land overlooking water. Some other birds of interest swamp are the African and lesser Jacannas, Pied Kingfishers, the African Pygmie goose and the blue breaste eaters. Each wooden boat at Mabamba Swamp will carry atleast 3-persons for easy bird watching with a birding guide boat captain and each session will take atleast 3 hours depending on the luck of the day but a full day birding excu is also done.
